Chapter 75- Celebration

Chapter 75- Celebration

Darkfang Hold

Chieftans Hall

An air of celebration permeated the atmosphere as the people of Darkfang Hold celebrated the crushing defeat of the Sisters of the Damned. Several bonfires with various meats cooking had been laid out. Beer, wine, and various alcohols were liberally distributed throughout the settlement. They also celebrated the new alliance with their neighbors, but that was the lesser celebration. Jacob had made sure that Thorgron new not to let his men get out of hand too much and not to cause any fights at all.

Jacob had received half of the spoils and half of his share went to Ineford. Those spoils would be split between those families that had lost lives, but most would be going to the cities coffers. Each of his guildmates had earned at least 2 items and 15 Gold, the rest went toward to help to outfit the new army. It cost a lot of resources and money to outfit even the small army he had built.

Of the 500 captives, 200 went to Darkfang Hold and the rest had been shipped back to the Tomb. They would decide what to do with them, either to the Pit, Tomb Guardians, or questioned about the activities of the Sisters.

Jacobs War Party was nearby celebrating the victory, none were getting too drunk and Jacob was still sipping from the original stein he had acquired an hour ago. Cathrine had left with her people to report back to the Council of Nine about the battle and to see her family, but she had made sure he knew that he was more than welcome to celebrate the victory with June and Chalxae since she was not there. Based on the way both women flirted, she had told them the same thing. "Are you going to join the festivities, Jacob?" Sosa asked as she walked up. She had a stein in her hand and based on the slight swaying and the smile on her face she was partially drunk. Two guards shadowed her and smiled when he looked at them. Apparently, their Chief being drunk was not a common occurrence so they enjoyed the moment while she was in a better mood than usual.

"My people earned their fun and I am staying sober so they do not do anything to jeopardize our new alliance," Jacob said as he moved a chair so that she might sit down if she wanted.

Sosa laughed and sat next to Jacob, "I expect more than one drunken brawl and none of my people will take it personally. So please relax and enjoy yourself, we all earned a chance to relax and enjoy. That includes you, Jacob, so finish that drink and get another." Sosa stared at him almost in a challenge until he chugged the beer. June picked up the empty stein quickly moving to refill it from a nearby barrel of beer.

Chalxae smiled as she sat down on the other side of Sosa, her guards tensed but the Chief waved off their concerns quickly, "Master why is it that this woman can get you to relax after a couple words, while our bugging has done nothing?" Chalxae asked while smiling playfully. June sat down next to Jacob after grabbing a cup of wine for both her and Chalxae. Both women were smiling while staring at Jacob and occasionally glancing at Sosa.

"Sosa reminded me that I am only mortal and that I need to enjoy life, not just my responsibilities. Are you ladies enjoying yourselves?" Jacob asked as he drank from the new beer.

All three women smiled, "Doing fine Jacob and looking forward to going home though. I miss Eiloma's company." June responded.

"Who is Eiloma?" Sosa asked while looking at the three companions.

"A close friend and my Seneschal of my home," Jacob responded while thinking of the beautiful High-Elf Vampire.

Chalxae giggled, "Very close friend and confident of ours." she said with a salacious smile, " Would you like to be a close friend of ours?" Chalxae asked while her hand touched the Chieftans knee.

Sosa's guards immediately tensed but relaxed when they heard her laugh, "Ohh, aren't you a forward one. Don't you think Jacob would grow jealous if I stole your attention?"

June laughed, "Who said he wouldn't be invited?" she asked as she gently placed her hand on Jacobs' thigh. The implication made the chief blush and glance at Jacob before she looked back at the other women.

"Ladies, I am sure Sosa can decide who she wants and when without you two pressuring her into anything," Jacob said as he continued to drink.

Chalxae smiled impishly, "Master she is quite beautiful and I am sure that she has plenty of stamina. It will even foster our growing relationship with Clan Darguun." Chalxae comment made Sosa blush even more.

"Her beauty is not in question and our relationship is new. Now please drop it. I am sorry if my companions are to forward Sosa." Jacob told the woman who smiled.

"To my people, her words and yours are far from forward. The meaning is welcome though, ones that I never hear from my people. To my people, I am too skinny and weak compared to the other women in my Clan." Sosa lamented, but she smiled while doing it.

Jacob snorted and his two companions laughed at what she said, "If your people see you as weak and ugly, it is their loss and our gain. You should drink more often Sosa or be more open like this, I enjoy your company when you are like this." His words caused the chieftain to smile.

"You proved yourself today beyond any doubt in my mind or my people's mind. We are true neighbors now Jacob, so why don't you tell me why you are so different then what I expect from other half elf, half humans?" Sosa asked after she finished her stein. The question caused the others to freeze up and the two women looked to Jacob.

Although they were allies, Clan Darguun was not family and some secrets must be kept for now. "We are allies Sosa, but some secrets are not mine to tell. I am sure someday you will know, but not yet." Jacob told her while finishing his beer. Both leaders had their drinks quickly refilled and Sosa quietly considered the halfling's words.

"Well, I guess I can wait for now Jacob. You are an interesting man I look forward to getting to know better." Sosa stood gathering her drink and left the three companions.

"Enjoy your conversations with Jacob Longstrider?" Dolbrug asked as he approached his sister.

Sosa snorted at his question, "Yes I did. I saw him relax a little bit and I enjoyed his company immensely. I like being accepted for who I am and not judged by my looks." she responded as she hugged her brother who laughed at her comments.

"Good, but I am not the only one who noticed your companionship with the new ally. The Elders took notice as well. What they think of it, I do not know." Dolbrug said before he left her to consider his words.

Hyperion raged as his brothers and sisters looked on in amusement, "I want that bastard dead!!"

"Why should we assist you brother? You were warned not to be too confrontational with the Vampires, yet you picked a fight. He destroyed your Avatar and now you want us to lend you energy to create another...No brother you must wait and manifest your own." Oceanus responded earning a glare from Hyperion.

"I will do this no matter what you say Oceanus!!" Hyperion responded.

"ENOUGH!!! What happens with the Vampires will not matter with the loss of one of them. Hyperion if you want to kill this Vampire, you will go yourself, not an Avatar. Oceanus will go with you since he has so much time to bait you." Atlas glared at both of them.
