Chapter 282- He can be here, here, here, ANYWHERE!!!

Surface- Twisting Hills Region

Free Lands- Outside the City of Cliphis

Jacob watched as the camp and fortifications were built up around the Fourth Legion as they made camp north of the city of Cliphis. The Tenth Legion was deployed almost an hour north, the Fifth Legion was deployed to the south side of the city opposite of the Fourth Legion, the Sixteenth Legion faced the eastern wall, and the Seventeenth Legion faced the western wall of Cliphis. Scouts had been deployed along the eastern road that led to the cities off Niamphis and Yhieburg as well as along the road that led north towards Yadpool and the Empires new Client States of Athesas, Duling, and Stormsurge.

"The Engineers will be finished with the Siege Towers and done assembling the Siege Engines within a day. We have scouts and pickets deployed so even if they sortie from the city, we will be warned before in advance." Nadal reported as he strode up.

"Understood, and our infiltration teams?" Jacob asked.

"They have managed to pin down the location of the outer Mana Shield. They will sabotage it when the time comes. We still have not confirmed Lord Winters location but the Master of Shadows has assured me that he has an asset inside the city trying to confirm if he is within or not." Nadal replied causing Jacob to roll his eyes in frustration.

Inner City

Ailis flighted among the streets of upper Cliphis, with the Slavers Union in power, a little coin went a lot of way towards getting her where she needed to be. Her mission was simple but far from easy. Fifty gold got patrol routes, garrison size, and guard shifts throughout the Inner City. Another fifty earned her a pass for the Inner city, expensive but the Master of Shadows would repay the debt as soon as she reported back. Now if she could only infiltrate the Keep, she could find out if Lord Winters was present or not.

The City Guard patrols were mainly concentrated in the Outer City, the few hundred that were within the Inner City were concentrated at the city Keep. Ailis has no problem monitoring the patrols and avoiding them, she could hear and see them long before they come close to her, but it did not stop her from moving over rooftops as she moved closer and closer to the cities Keep. Ailis quickly Analyzed the closes guard as she passed close to a patrol.

Rebel Arang'mor- Outside the Fortresses of Faerchester

Weeks of fluid battle and they were finally here and in a position to besiege the Fortresses of Faerchester. A formidable triple-walled fortress with almost ten thousand rebel troops within. Othgad looked at the remains of his army, of the original twelve thousand, he had just over ten thousand left. Five hundred of the Swords of the Light were also present, but with the weapons the Chaos Aligned allowed them to destroy the Avatars of Immortals, Othgads' guildmates were hesitant to engage. It had become known throughout the guild that Chaos Aligned Immortals and Locals had some equipment that could destroy Avatars, it was not widely known throughout Ithea yet, but it was only a matter of time before it was known. Then shit would hit the fan for BlackRock Entertainment.

Othgad gripped Dawn Breaker as he considered the campaign so far and the cost in both lives, resources, and money. Thousands were dead, they had spent over a hundred thousand gold on this campaign, and the rebel forces were largely intact while Othgad had lost nearly one-third of the forces he had mustered on the two fronts. "My king, the army is camped and settled. Preparations for the siege will begin at dawn, do you have any orders before I seek rest?" a Captain of the Silver Guard asked as he walked up.

"Nothing Captain, go eat and rest, it has been a long day and I am sure tomorrow will be just as long," Othgad responded, dismissing the Captain with a wave of his hand as slung Dawn Breaker onto his shoulder before turning and walking back into the camp, a pair of the Silver Guard following close behind.

Ava groaned as she rolled out of bed, the last week had been tough between finishing up a bunch of fetch and kill quests, she had finally hit level twenty and could now unlock her Primary Class and unlock both her Primary Skill Tree but also her Class Tree. Ava was still tempted to go Elementalist, but she had given her word and in this world, she was learning there were ramifications for not keeping your word. Ava quickly checked her Character sheet one last time before getting dressed.

The Boots and Belt buffed her Stats, once she unlocked Necromancy, the Staff would buff her Stats even more and make her a real power for her level. The question was, where the Loranan rabbit hole would take her. She dismissed the information as she made her way downstairs and immediately got an apple, bread, and juice for breakfast. Simple, easy, and cheap, but she had to unlock her Primary Class which could take up to a Gold to purchase.

Walking along the packed streets of Elleshara early in the morning revealed the city waking to another day. While the guards had not warmed to her presence, they no longer expected her to blow something up at every turn. The other Locals, on the other hand, are still wary of her presence, but no longer gouge prices too much. Either way, she enjoys the walk with the bread and honey, before switching to the apple as she makes her way to the Mage District. More and more Mage types fill the streets, both Local and Immortal, but Ava is looking for a specific trainer and due to Necromancy not being openly accepted school of magic in the High-Elf Kingdom, she would have to look for one of the shadier shops to track down a trainer.

After walking for almost thirty minutes back and forth across the same streets Ava finally went into a rundown Alchemist shop. It was a profession she wanted to get anyway, but hopefully, the man had information on a Necromancer trainer as well. "Goodday sir, I was wondering if you trained your profession as well as sold Alchemic potions?" Ava asked as she entered the shop.

The High-Elf frowned at her as she entered and shrugged, "To unlock Alchemy profession, a Beginners traveling Alchemist set with a half dozen recipes, it's one Gold. No negotiations miss." The man responded before going back to working on some paperwork.

Ava frowned before nodding, "If I pay that much, I expect information as well as everything you promised." Ava stated as she walked closer.

The man snorted, "What information would that be miss?"

"Where a Necromancer trainer is within the city or close by. Before you say you do not know, you have both Soul Stones and Mummified Hearts behind you, you can't get those from Priests or Clerics. I want to know where one is so I can earn my Primary Class." Ava stated as she drummed her fingers on the counter.

The other High-Elf holds out his hand causing Ava to roll her eyes before depositing one of her few Gold coins in his hands. The High-Elf smiles a before offering his hand again and Ava takes it, warmth floods her as knowledge of Alchemy enters her mind as she learns a Crafting profession. "Are you ok little sister?" the High-Elf asks as he holds her steady. Ava nodded her head in response and from the way the other Elf frowned, he didn't completely believe her but steps away from her before pulling out a half-dozen scrolls and a traveling Alchemist set. Ava grabs it all and throws it in her inventory.

"The information?" Ava prompts and the man studies her before nodding his head and moving towards the back of the shop.

Ava follows him quickly as he stops at the back wall. The shop owner quickly moves several random items and the floor moved away revealing a set of stairs leading down into the basement. "Down there is a Portal Stone, on the other side you will find what you seek daughter of Loranan. Good luck." The man stated before gesturing onward.

Inner City- Keep

Ailis snorted as she moved through the 'Keep' of Cliphis, it was more like a palace. Its walls were only ten feet tall and only five feet wide with a few archer towers every couple hundred feet. The halls are light mostly, but the dark places in-between provide more than adequate haven as she stalked the halls of the Keep. Thirty minutes later Ailis finally find where the Master Suite is and where Lord Winters is, or where he is supposed to be. The rooms are empty despite having guards on them. Ailis quickly moves away before the Guards stationed there notice her presence. A mystery Ailis muses as she moves towards the barracks and where the officers of the City Guard is housed.

Halfway to the Barracks Ailis luck ran out, a pair of roving guards caught sight of her Stealthed form. She cursed as she sprinted towards the wall surrounding the Keep and jumped about halfway up it before her talons found purchase as she scrambled up and over the wall. Shouts and alarm bells filled the night as Ailis scrambled to get away, now they knew an infiltrator was within the city, it would make getting into the Keep that much harder next time.

Free Lands- Outside the City of Cliphis

Jacob scooped out another pile of dirt and threw out up onto the makeshift earthen rampart that was slowly coming into existence in front of a pair of Trebuchets that were being put together by some Engineers. Several squads of the Fourth Legion would remain on sentry duty incase the city guard of Cliphis sortied out to attack the encampment.

"Having fun?" Thorgron asks as he walks up.

Jacob leans into the shovel before responding, "Tons, can't you tell?' Jacob replies with a grin before tossing the shovel into his inventory and joining the Captain of the Dawn Guard. 'Is everyone bedded down for the day?" Jacob asks as they walk deeper into the main camp.

The Duergar snorts in amusement, "Yes of course. Any word if we are going to assault this place or just continue to wait them out." Thorgron asks.

"For now we wait and try to find Lord Winters. As of yet, we have no idea where he is or who is in power currently in the city. Until we find that out, we cannot do anything." Jacob responds as they get closer to the center of the encampment.

The Duergar nodded his head as they entered the center of the camp, "Get some rest Jacob, something tells me that the coming days are going to be difficult." Thorgron stated before breaking off.
