Chapter 116- Grudge Match!!!

Chapter 116- Grudge Match!!!

Broken Crown Keep

Alter Room

Jacob cursed as the raid was cut off from him as Elite Flame Elementals appeared around them and some shield intersected between Jacob and the remaining members of the raid. He cursed as he saw the smirking visage of Hyperion and he started monologuing immediately but Jacob just fired off a quick analysis to see how powerful he really was at this point.

Name: Hyperion (Legendary-Unique)

Level: 50 (Fallen God)

Health: 300,000/300,000

Abilities: Power Slash, Summon Fire Elemental, Fire Control, Unknown

Jacob smiled and let the dumbass continue to talk, waiting and biding his time as he slowly circled the Fallen God until he was in range and triggered Charge immediately while letting his humanity go. Jacob smiled as he slide under Hyperions sword and slashed at his armor causing the godling to curse as blood flew. Hyperion whirled and started reaching forward to grasp Jacob so he triggered Shield Bash causing Hyperions nose to explode in bone and ichor as the Titan had literary smashed his face into the shield.

Hyperion reeled back swinging blindly trying to damage Jacob and give himself time to recover. Jacob chuckled as he began to slash at the fallen-gods arms causing blood to splash and Hyperion dropped his sword in reflex to Jacob slashing at his wrists. Suddenly Hyperion bellowed and threw his arms wide causing waves of fire to explode outwards. Jacob immediately moved backward and jumped above the approaching flames but he was no Rogue, no matter how fast or agile he had become, and it had left him vulnerable to Hyperions' Fireball that slammed into his chest.

Jacob ignored the pain and burning as his wounds healed or scabbed over. Hyperion smiled and started talking while Jacob checked his health and his opponents. Jacob cursed himself for banking so many of his characteristic points, if he hadn't he would probably be sitting close to 10,000 health at the start of this fight, instead of the 8,000. Hyperion had managed to shave off 2 thousand health with the one Fireball and the asshole was sitting at over 290,000. Jacob would eventually recover the health from his passives, but Hyperion would never give him the time. He really didn't have a chance with this guys as long as he fought fair and with the altar behind him feeding him power, Hyperion would eventually wear him down and kill him. So he did a quick inventory a saw some things he could use in this desperate situation.

----------------------------------------

Hyperion smiled as the Vampire recovered burning but healing for now from the Fireball. He was studying him but doing nothing else. "Can't you see its inevitable that I win mortal. Here in this place, I heal even faster than you. Eventually, you will die, but I am enjoying myself while I can." Suddenly the Vampire smirked and cast a potion at his feet. At first, Hyperion thought it was a smoke bomb, but it was less dense then that. It was fog and it completely filled the room.

He could hear a chuckle within the fog, but the room distorted where the laughter originated but then he heard the clank of armored footsteps as someone was running. Hyperion conjured and threw a wave of Fire toward the area he thought the sound was coming from. Mocking laughter filled the room, "So close, yet so far." Hyperion enraged triggered multiple waves of Fire in all directions again, suddenly an explosion sounded from behind him and threw him forward. Pain and loss suddenly filled him as he looked behind him.

----------------------------------------

Jacob smiled as Alert that filled his screen but he dismissed it for later, the screams of anguish from Hyperion was far more satisfying then Jacob would ever admit. Jacob came out from hiding behind the pillar and approached the fallen-godling and analyzed him again.

Name: Hyperion (Legendary-Unique)

Level: 50 (Fallen God-Weakened)

Health: 150,000/300,000

Abilities: Power Slash, Summon Fire Elemental, Fire Control, Unknown

"What have you done?!?!?!" Hyperion cried out in anguish as Jacob slowly stalked forward, palming another surprise for the fiery god before rushing forward and slamming his 'gift' into his face. His screams filled the air and his backhand threw him against the far wall. Greater Ice Bomb to the face, 10,000 damage and a critical hit on top of it doubled the damage and he was sure Hyperion was now suffering De-Buffs as well. Jacob chuckled as he counted the three he had left. Suddenly Hyperion ignited himself and turned toward Jacob and readied his sword before charging.

----------------------------------------

Tarren cursed as the last Elite Elemental died and turned toward the sealed room. It was filled with fog and no one could see anything beyond the shield. "Can we do anything to bypass the shield? Can we take it out?" Tarren asked Anastasia.

"No, nothing can get through and if we had a couple of days we could cut through it. As of right now, our guild leader is alone facing a pissed off Fallen-God. He will have to win or lose by himself." The archer stated, "Something tells me that Hyperion is going to regret sealing himself in there with Jacob, rumor mill states that he has already bested him twice before." Suddenly a huge explosion dissipated the fog, everyone heard the screams and moans and saw Hyperion on his knees gazing at the ruined altar.

World Alert...

Jacob Longstrider and the Seekers of the Dawn Guild have destroyed the last Greater Alter of the Titans on the mortal plane. This action will have repercussion among the Pantheons and for the greater world.

World Alert...

Stunned silence filled the air as the Guild chat for those who were not present, exploded with questions. Anastasia immediately told them to shut up and that they would talk later after they got out of the raid. Other alerts also filled Tarrens screen but he immediately dismissed them as he saw Jacob walk from around a pillar and approach the kneeling Hyperion. He carried something that was blue and glowing. At first, Tarren thought it was a mana potion, but the blue color was off. Then Anastasia started chuckling darkly, "Its about to get worse for Hyperion." Before Tarren could ask for clarification Jacob slammed his hand forward breaking the potion in Hyperions face causing him to scream and lash out in pain.

"What did he do?" Tarren asked the archeress over the hoots and yells of encouragement from the other guild members.

"You remember those Greater Ice Bombs we got from the mini-boss outside? Well, Jacob just punched one into Hyperions face. It would be equivalent to pouring hydrochloric acid into your eyes in our world." Anastasia responded as she stared intently at the combatants. "I want this recorded people for posterity. The day our guild leader froze the eyes of a god and walked away from it. Its also a good example of using an enemies vulnerability against them, Hyperion is a god with a fire affinity. Ice and water are his greatest weakness." Anastasia lectured to the raid.

Tarren hadn't taken his eyes off the fight going on in front of him, Jacob was dashing in and out of range of the larger warrior. Hacking and stabbing when he could at the heavily armored warrior before dashing out of range before the TItan could retaliate. Suddenly Hyperion managed to grab Jacobs overextended arm and slam him into the ground. Moonlight suddenly pulsed with green energy before dimming and a green circle suddenly appeared behind Hyperion. "Holy shit, how the fuck did he do that?" another guild member asked right as a bunch of tentacles lashed out and attacked the Titan.

----------------------------------------

Jacob coughed blood, he thought the fight was over. His ribs were broken, he was bleeding internally and Hyperion was about to kill him. Suddenly Moonlight pulsed with energy and Jacob received an alert that he swiped away. Suddenly Hyperion shouted in surprise as tentacles grabbed him and slammed him in the nearby wall and a Pit Fiend emerged from a nearby portal. Jacob tried to chuckle but his ribs hurt too much. The Pit Fiend glanced at him before it continued its assault on the suprised Titan.

Jacob started crawling away from where the Titan and Pit Fiend were throwing down. He pulled his last Medium-Healing Tonic from his inventory and downed it followed by a Medium-Healing Potion. His health immediately started to increase while his De-Buffs started to disappear. Within 30 seconds he was standing and moving on his own while Hyperion was looming over the Pit Fiend pouring fire into the creature. Suddenly it screeched and a pulse of energy shot out of its eye and slammed into Hyperion launching the Titan into the opposite wall where he collapsed to the ground his army smoking. Idiot, Pit Fiends were creatures of the Abyss and highly resistant to fire based attacks, even at the level Hyperion could dish out.

The Pit Fiend had been hurt though and it was glaring at the Titan in hate Jacob thought until he noticed that he could see more energy gathering before the Fiends eye. He was going to blast Hyperion again and this wasn't going to be a simple pulse of energy this time, this was going to be the biggest blast the Pit Fiend could dish out. That thought registered in both Hyperions mind and Jacob at the same time, the only difference was that the Titan was the target and Jacob had a moment to shield himself from the backlash that would happen.

----------------------------------------

Tarren watched as the Pit Fiend and the Titan fought back and forth. It was both awe-inspiring and scary as hell to see a fight at that level. At that moment he missed all the levels he had lost in becoming a Vampire, but he was also thankful knowing if he had never chosen this path, he wouldn't be here.

Suddenly Hyperion started to rapidly throw Fireballs toward the Pit Fiend, they were not strong but they were continually damaging the Pit Fiend. Eventually, Hyperion was just channeling flames at the Pit Fiend trying to kill it when suddenly a pulse of energy emitted from the Pit Fiend and slammed into Hyperion throwing him across the room. The Titan looked fucked up, he was bleeding and his armor was torn and smoking. Suddenly Jacob went down to one knee while hiding behind his shield. Tarren looked back at the Pit Fiend who had been charging up a bigger beam attack then the first no wonder Jacob was taking cover. Elite Pit Fiends that unleashed similar attacks were known to one-shot Tanks with 500,000 health. Neither Jacob nor Hyperion had near that health pull currently based on looks. Then a sickly green light exploded outwards and drowning out everything else.

----------------------------------------

Even braced for the blast, Jacob had been moved nearly a foot back. When he looked up, half of Hyperion was extra crispy but he had managed to bury his sword up to his wrist into the Pit Fiends eye. Not above attacking a more powerful enemy behind Jacob quickly dashed forward and slammed Moonlight through Hyperion chest area before kicking his knees out causing the Titan to drop to his knees. Outrage and pain filled the Titans eyes as Jacob suddenly uncapped one of the Greater Ice Bombs and started pouring down the Titans throat.

Jacob leaned forward and slammed his fangs into Hyperion throat and started feeding on the Titan while he started twisting and wrenching the hilt of Moonlight back and forth opening the wound further and causing more damage to the dying Titan. Hyperion started slamming his right fist into Jacob but the blows were nothing compared to his earlier attacks and suddenly the attacks stopped and Jacob knew the Titan was dead finally. Suddenly a plethora of Alerts exploded on his screen but he swiped them away as he tried to control the power flowing through his veins. He tried to reach out to his connections with his Bonded to anchor himself to this moment and time but it was a losing battle. Suddenly it felt like he exploded with energy and everything was bathed in light.

When the light cut out he was on his hands and knees. Everything hurt worse than even the first time he had fed from the Titan, but this time he did not pass out. Suddenly Tarren was there pulling him up and multiple healing spells hit him. Even though he knew he was probably physically ok for the most part, mentally the fight had been draining. "What the hell happened to the rule of no feeding off of gods in any shape or form. Yet here you are necking with Hyperion and completely draining a Titan of his life force. What the fuck dude??" Tarren asked as Anastasia also began studying him.

"Well, I was kinda out of options. The Pit Fiend was dead, I was out of tonics that could repair injuries and had only minor healing potions left. I had to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible. Thus my plan to pour practically a poison to him down his throat, shove my sword through his chest, and then eat him. Can you think of a better way to kill him?" Jacob asked the Paladin. Who honestly thought about it before shaking his head, Jacob then looked at the Arcane Archer who also shook her head before he nodded his head and headed toward the corpse of Ormad and checked the items there. A few very nice items, very, very nice but no crown. Hyperion resulted in the same thing. So where was the crown? "Looters, if you find a crown, turn it over please I know what kind of toys we are picking up from the Boss and Hyperion." Suddenly the Rogues led by Darren spread out checking every nook and cranny. A few minutes later a shout from the altar area grabbed their attention. Jacob headed there immediately and spotted what could only be the Crown of Blood. It was very beautiful, to say the least, it was a mix of Blood Steele, Gold, Titanium, Platinum, and a few other metals he didn't recognize. It was a full faced helm with odd engravings with several Rubies embedded into the metal. Jacob picked it up and inspected the piece of armor.

Marc sent a message back, Jacob immediately ready it.

Kevin/Jacob

What did you expect to happen? If you don't want you or your guild to be in the spotlight, don't do things that can have ramifications that will affect hundreds or thousands of beings in that world. You destroy a Greater Alter, you got to expect some publicity. Congrats on killing Hyperion. Downing a god, even a fallen one, is a rare in Fate online. Management says to keep it up, buddy.

Work-wise, we will be releasing your feed to you to edit so start doing it on your downtime Jacob Longstrider.

With respect,

Marc

With a growl Jacob rolled out of bed and started gathering clothing, his armor and Moonlight went into his inventory. It was time to check in with the guild and see how his people were doing.

----------------------------------------

Arathia Basin

Outside Middlebrough

Faith was suddenly woken by someone shaking her shoulder and they almost lost their fingers because of it, "What?" She snarled out as she rose from her bedroll. She could see the camp waking and being broken down as people prepared to move out.

"Target has reached Middlebrough, everyone is preparing to move out. It's not too late to call this off, we can still walk away." John implored her causing Faith to snort in derision.

"We got too much money and time invested in this and the payout is too good. We need this job to succeed, we are going forward. Take your team and get ready to open the portal, you guys will be in charge of making sure it is open and ready. You will also be covering my teams retreat so don't fuck it up." Faith said as she started donning armor and weapons.

----------------------------------------

Governer High-Tower and Jacob walked along the wall, it was only a couple hours before dawn and the man was already up and running when Jacob showed up. The Governor had a long day ahead of him while Jacob was nearing the end of his, yet both took time to meet for a short time and discuss the ongoing changes to his town.

"The Portal Pad was completed, as of yet, we have not released the coordinates to anyone outside those you authorized to have it. I have to ask, what are you going to do with the captives that survived the battle to the south?" High-Tower asked as they walked. 4 Legionnaires shadowed them at all times, 2 for the Governor and 2 for Jacob.

"They will be handed over to the courts of Ineford for judgment, it would be a conflict of interest to hand them over too you. The only reason why we are not prosecuting any of your remaining soldiers is that you surrendered unconditionally. For now, we will not touch them, but if they do anything to disrupt things here, that will change. How are things working with Lieutenant-Commander Ironbark and the Legion soldiers stationed here? Any problems or abuses of power?" Jacob asked.

"No, no problems what-so-ever, but the citizens still have some resentments. That's to be expected though after everything that has happened here. Now, can I ask what my purpose is here? Do you see me as a puppet for you and your Empire?" The older man asked and based on what Jacob saw, he would have to be careful.

"You, as Governor, are my voice and hand here in Middlebrough. You speak with my authority and unless I am here or someone I appoint, you have the last word on everything civilian related. Lieutenant-Commander Ironbark is the military side of that coin and will oversee all military matters and will answer to you and then me. He is aware of this." Jacob responded and whatever he said or conferred seemed to satisfy the man.

"Thank you, my King, I will assure the people of that. We will be having the last Great Harvest Market and Fair of the year in a couple of weeks, will you be attending? Representatives from all over the Arathia Basin will be present, it will be a good meet and greet for you and your people." the Governor asked as they stopped.

"I honestly don't know. I will try and I am sure some if not all of my guild members will stop by at least once during the market. It will show all the merchants and traders that Weighted Chance is gone and their methods have left with them. As far as security goes, I want local soldiers in charge of security for the event. I want to try and keep the Legion out of the light unless we have no choice in the matter. Now, if you don't mind I would like to speak to Ironbark alone for a few minutes before I head home." Jacob told the Governor as Ironbark started walking toward them. The human smiled and bowed before moving off.

Once the human had moved out of range of hearing Jacob turned to the Orc, "Blunt assessment Ironbark, do we have anything to worry about?"

The Orc shrugged and rolled his armored shoulders as he contemplated his response, "Short term Sir, no. They are freshly conquered and trying to figure out their place in the Empire of Night and what it means. Long Term, its a possibility. You might want to kick the courts' asses down in Ineford and have them fast track all the judgments and sentencing. All this waiting for their families here does not help anything." The Orc started studying his face suddenly before gulping and taking a slight step back, "You might want to get something to eat soon Sir, your eyes are red-rimmed and fangs are showing."

Jacob breathed deeply and tried to relax, his Vampiric side had been on edge and he had not eaten when coming here. His body was still recovering from yesterday so his reserves were not at what they usually were. "I am sorry my friend, I am not hungry or angry at you. The situation can be frustrating though. I will be leaving shortly to head home, I will make sure I eat them." Jacob told the Orc who nodded before saluting and moving off.

Jacob looked out at the horizon, thinking of his plans for the future, he needed to finish the war with the SIsters. He needed the army freeing all the slaves could provide. It was manipulative, but he didn't have a choice. It gave them purpose and freedom while giving him an army to protect his people. Suddenly alarm bells filled the night and Jacob whipped around, on the opposite side of town a fire raged in the warehouse/workshop area. Had Ironbark been wrong?

Town Alert...

Fire in the Warehouse district

Town Alert...

Suddenly Jacob saw a slight distortion on the roof opposite of the wall, Jacob threw himself to the side as an arrow sped through where his chest had been. He heard two grunts of pain as the Legionnaires were wounded, disabled, or killed. Jacob snarled scrambled up and started running for the nearest watchtower to raise the alarm.

Suddenly a Warrior type jumped/scrambled up onto the wall and started swinging the large ax down at Jacob. Jacob jumped forward, hands leading the way and burying his talons into the warrior's stomach who grunted then screamed as Jacob flexed his arms in opposite directions effectively disemboweling the warrior. Jacob shoved him to the ground in passing and looked back for a moment and saw the three cloaked figures closing rapidly but the lead runner tripped or slipped on the hurt warrior causing Jacob to laugh as he ran for his life screaming, "ASSASSINS, ALARM!!!"

The man, a half-breed similar to Jacob before he was made a Vampire heard, his eyes bulged at what he saw happening along the length of the wall and immediately started ringing his alarm bell. His companion shouldered his crossbow and started to aim at those coming up behind Jacob.

----------------------------------------

Faith had nearly stopped chasing the target when she saw him rip Johny to shreds, he was bleeding badly and already at half health. Who the hell was this guy that he had the raw strength to do that yet was moving nearly at the speed of a Rogue type? Faith was keeping pace with the guy and one of her three archers had been tripped by Johny going down and was out of the chase. Two more were still on him and one of her Assassins was silently making his way up the Archer Tower to take out the two archers there.

Suddenly a large Orc jumped up onto the wall behind the running target and charged the two archers drawing a blade that glowed red and blue. The first archer died screaming as the Orcs blade nearly cleaved her in two while the other tried to fall back but the Orc snarled and darted after her. Faith cursed and sent a message to her remaining team members to get to the target right before she threw herself at the target.

He must have sensed something because he turned and caught her deflecting her sword with his forearm. Sacrificing a few percentage points to get within arms range where he buried fingers into her stomach and started wiggling them while her sword arm felt like it was being crushed as he whirled and threw her at two of her team members that tripped them up.

Alert...

De-Buff Bleeding Damage: 15 Damage per second (30 Second Duration)

De-Buff Internal Bleeding: 5 Damage per second (10 Minute Duration)

De-Buff Fractured Arm: -50% attack damage, Attack speed - 50% (Duration 1 Hour)

Alert...

Her scream of pain and moaning did not stop her teams assault while she desperately pulled a Small-Healing Tonic from her belt so she could get back into the fight.

----------------------------------------

Jacob once again cursed himself for not keeping Moonlight with him and not in his inventory, he had been trying to put the Governor mind at ease by not going to the meeting armed. Now he was suffering under an assault by people that wanted to capture him for some reason. He had managed to send out a 911 alert through the guild chat before going dark, but he had no idea if or when anyone would respond.

Suddenly he heard a snick of a blade being drawn and he saw someone dropping out of Stealth jumping toward him from the roof of another building. Jacob moved to intercept the new enemy and deflected the sword thrust and moved toward the new enemy. He buried his talons in her gut while grabbing her extended sword arm and crushing it the best he could before turning and throwing her toward two more Rogues that dropped out of Stealth.

Jacob back-peddled from the Rogues and looked back as a new Warrior climbed up onto the wall and drew a pair of swords. "Listen, dude, we don't want you dead. We just want to capture you, so come along quietly or we are going to hurt you." The Warrior said as he tried to intimidate Jacob who snorted in amusement and pulled the only offensive potion from his belt, an Alchemic Bomb. He was going to take the dumbass and himself out with the explosion but one of the Rogues was an Assassin and stabbed him in the Kidneys ruining that plan. As Jacob stumbled and tried to maintain consciousness, well shit he could still take out the cocky bastard he thought as he threw the Bomb at the Warrior and smirked as it exploded. The blast threw Jacob back and into the three people behind him, alerts popped up but darkness was claiming him before he could read them.

----------------------------------------

Faith cursed as she stood up, this guy had been trouble and two or more of her people were dead at least. One was a local and would never come back. "Let's get him off the wall and to the rendezvous point and get him through the portal. Once there he will be secured." She told the Rogues who nodded and started leaning down to pick up the target when a sword exploded from the chest of one of them. The huge Orc from earlier yanked the blade out and quickly decapitated the bleeding and dying Rogue before the other Rogue turned and attacked him driving him back.

Faith grunted and started picking up the unconscious form when she saw and felt the Rogue jump down from the tower, bleeding and about 50% health. "Jimmy, help me with this guy." Jimmy looked at Faith and back at the other Rogue who was furiously attacking the Orc but was slowly losing. She could hear the Orc bellowing in rage as Faith and Jimmy jumped off the wall and toward the ground below. More alarms were going off and the northern gate opened and more soldier poured forth and started charging after them. She heard a grunt and the ground shook slightly behind them.

John cursed and all his team deployed in front of the portal that was forming, a small line of warriors and archers that started to fire toward the oncoming soldiers.

----------------------------------------

Ironbark snarled as he jumped from the wall, poison coursed through his veins but magic from one of the nearby healers was driving it from his system as he charged toward the enemy. Two of the enemy Warriors moved to intercept him while the archers behind them aimed toward the oncoming Legionnaires. Crossbow Bolts, Firebolts, and a Lightning Bolt struck back killing 3 of the archers and wounding two of the Warriors.

Ironbark furiously attacked the two warriors but they were well trained and used to fighting together. "Disrupt the Portal!!" Ironbark screamed out hoping someone could hear him. Suddenly glowing arrows slammed into the attackers exploding and killing them or disabling them. Ironbark didn't even look back, just targeted one of the ones carrying Jacob Longstrider and triggered his Charge ability. One of the attackers intercepted him though allowing them to get through the Portal. Enraged the Orc backhanded the warrior and lept for the shimmering Portal but with a clap of thunder, it closed. Ironbarks cry of rage filled the night, "Legion I want captives now, subdue do not kill!!" He cried out as the squads closed in on the last of the attackers corraling and subduing them brutally. The man that had Intercepted the Orc started to get up but Ironbarks armored boot slammed into his face breaking his jaw and sending him into unconsciousness.
