Rejected by his own people and cast adrift on the edge of civilized space, Adrian Bassart and his AI companion Kessler must gather to themselves a ragtag band of rejects in order to reclaim his honour and shake off the sins of his past. In this chapter, we are introduced to our protagonists and begin to see the events that will shape them into the adventurers that they will become.
