24 The mysterious black ring

"Everybody owns something to another"

"I have just a question. If you knew all of these, why haven't you told me before?" Director Visderfis asked after finishing writing her notes. Azar paid her a visit and shared all the information he spoke in the class earlier today. And under the torrent of valuable information leaving his mouth, Irine Visderfis found herself writing down the most important things and ideas.

"Honestly? Because I wasn't aware that you actually don't know this," Azar answered. He really had no idea about the value of the knowledge he possessed, not until this morning in any case.

"Are not living in the same world as me?" Visderfis asked. She was caught between two opposite emotions; anger and happiness. She was happy for finding out such game changing discoveries, and angry because Azar acted like it was common knowledge for him.

"Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on the situation," Azar responded avoiding to lie, but not revealing the whole truth either.

"I swear that I'm not sure if you are a genius, or a madman."

"I think I'm both. I never met a true genius that could truly be understood," Azar said in a natural manner. He didn't judge himself as being normal. He believed that every human had some moments of irrational thinking, stupid behavior, and such.

As a result no one was completely normal, because normality itself was a relative thing. "Please report the information to the king as soon as possible. I had a discussion with a teacher and some students from Jonick Academy in the morning, and I've told them exactly what I told you."

"Don't worry, I'll report this by evening," said the director reading one more time through the rows of letters.

"How was your interaction with Midnight?" Azar asked.

Visderfis looked at him for a while before laying back on her chair, relaxing. She did a lot of intellectual work and was normal to be tired. Azar was surprised that she still had time to practice and meditate everyday.

"It was unexpected," she said after finding her words. "They gave me the files of all the cases they resolved, and the victims they saved. A ton of work in other words. I put the entire underground division to investigate the veracity of the information. I would've liked to use you as well, otherwise you'll receive your payment for doing nothing. But I'll forgive you on the account of the information you've shared."

"I'm glad. Now I can sleep with the good conscious that I worked for my money. Not to be rude director, but I didn't receive a single coin for the year I was away. And even though I don't do much for most of the time, when I do something, I put everything in balance," Azar said smiling at his superior. "A perfect example is my work from the tunnels."

"No. That dosen't count as you're keeping secrets about that incident. Hiding something from your superior is against the law, I can put you in jail for that," Visderfis joked. "Jokes aside, I hope you know that if I could, I would've give you a bigger salary without the need to work."

"If it wasn't against the law, I know you would do everything you can to help me. Don't worry about that, I still have old debts to pay to you. Anyway, what's the result of the investigation until now?" Azar asked pouring himself another cup of tea. He didn't have financial debts to pay, but the helping hands he received needed to be returned with a higher interest rate.

"The evidences are solid, and until now we confirmed their words for more then ten cases. The victims saved by them are also taking their side. Even with the truth potions, their statements remain the same," answered the director. She let out a sigh thinking about all the events that happened right under her eyes, and she was powerless to stop them.

[ ACKNOWLEDGED! Truth potion

A costly and hard to make potion that forces the user to talk only the truth for an hour. It doesn't have negative effects and can be consumed without restrictions. ]

Azar nodded his head. "Don't be hard on yourself. You're a single person who fought with corruption and sly people on a daily basis. You can't cover the whole kingdom with just your power."

"I know, but it's not easy to accept it," said Visderfis, her heart pained by the inability to put things in order and cut away the disease poisoning the kingdom for years.

Azar pulled out his pocket watch and got up from the sofa. His hand leaving a small bottle behind. "My visit ends here director," he said walking towards the glass wall.

"Wait, I promised you this!" Visderfis followed and gave him a white box. "This is the communication device. Remember, it can't be used outside the range or deep in the wilderness."

"I'm sure it's totally a coincidence, but you can call me everytime you want to, right?"

"Obviously. With this, I don't need to wait for you to come by to discuss things. Now, have a nice day!" Visderfis said returning to her work.

"I let a gift for you on the table," Azar said before taking a step forward and disappearing. Visderfis looked at the table and saw a bottle of potion.

"You never change, kid," She muttered drinking the content of the small bottle.

What Azar gave her was a middle grade potion that calmed the nervous system and cleared the clouded mind. It wasn't the first time he let such a gift behind, and Visderfis reached the point where she didn't test the content any longer.

After finishing his job with the director, Azar headed back to his house. He needed an address when he registered his identity, and even though it looked like he lived in that place for some time, he just received it that night from Evedo. It wasn't a mansion or a big house in some important area, but it was enough for him.

The house had two bedrooms, and was a traditional one for Lefeer Kingdom, made from different types of sturdy wood placed together with wooden nails. It was covered with cane that offered thermal isolation, and also had a small front yard with a few flowers on the sides of the pathway.

In one of the bedrooms, Azar stood in a lotus position, controlling his breathing like it was the most important thing in his life. His attention was focused inside his body, making a full body scan that helped the cells work more efficiently. Everything worked better when the consciousness was used. Even the muscle grew faster when the mind was present.

After about half an hour of working within, Azar's spirit detached from the body and climbed up the invisible stairs reaching the sky. With his [Astral Projection], he could see everything and enter everyone's house, even though some were protected by arrays. However, he didn't do that because it would be a violation of privacy that was paid with karma.

The spirit cercled above the house a few times, scanning the area before leaving and entering the astral world. He didn't have another purpose then going to the [Cosmic Library], the exploration of the world not being that important since there were also hidden dangers.

The [Cosmic Library] was a vast place, bordered by nothingness itself and extending to innumerable light years. It was a place as old as the universe, and Azar couldn't even dream of learning all the things inside. He needed firm confidence and power of choice as the path opened only for what he asked for.

If he asked to receive the knowledge for his greatest good, it might not be what he was consciously looking for. There were two methods of asking; by thought, and by intention. The intention being the easiest and at the same time hardest method of asking.

That was the method he used this time though, as his intention wanted to find the best method for opening the prohibition of the black ring. The method needed to be suitable for his current level and capabilities as he wished for. And as the light of Azar's soul illuminated from within his spirit, a path of light opened before him.

Without being harmed by the powerful light, Azar's spirit traveled on it. And a short while after, the long corridor filled with translucent spheres of light, bend for him. The rest of the spirits and keepers on watch didn't perceive the change as for them nothing happened.

The library brought the information without disturbing the other entities. They all existed in the same space, yet in separate ones at the same time. One's action didn't influence the others, that was the rule of the library. A sacred ruled that could be changed only by the creator itself.

A sphere of light appeared before Azar's spirit. It was as big as a human head, and on its mirror like surface, appeared the image of a black ring. The image clearly represented Azar's treasure, one on one. Azar inserted his awareness into the sphere, and the information contained in it poured inside his mind.

[ Uranhorementh

Perfect High Grade Artifact

Creator: Huas Nolp Druminaris

Type: Ring

Use: Attack/Defense

Ability: storing energy

Explanation of use: The ring can absorb any and all types of energy. The ability stops automatically when the storing space is full. The energy inside can be use to attack or can be transformed and consumed.

Description: Carved from the rare, josk material, the ring possesses an almost ethereal sheen, hinting at its mystical nature. Its surface, smooth and cool to the touch, bears intricate runes etched in a subtle, shimmering hue that pulse faintly in dim, black light.

The surface of the ring is adorned with cryptic runes from the arcane language that speaks volumes to those well-versed in ancient lore. The symbols, arranged in precise patterns, hold the key to its powers and prohibitions, their meanings hidden to all but those initiated in the deepest mysteries of magic.

The ring's size varies, capable of adapting to the wearer's finger, regardless of their hand's dimensions. Its design, often understated yet elegant, exudes an aura of both elegance and forbidding power.

Crafted with rare materials and potent enchantments, exhibits a resilience that defies time and adversity. It is impervious to mundane wear and tear, resistant to damage, and has withstood the passage of ages, retaining its mystical potency.

Prohibitions and Limitations: Imbued with advanced enchantments for its world of creation, the ring is not easily wielded. It harbors restrictions that bind its powers, preventing misuse or falling into unworthy hands.

Lifting the prohibitions is possible in more then one way. . .

The most suitable one for you is through the Ritual of Awakening. ]

Azar's awareness returned to his spirit as the information remained engraved in his mind. The sphere of light displaying the black ring remained in the space while another one appeared next to it.

Understanding that it's a continuation, Azar used his awareness to discover the secrets within it.

[ Ritual of Awakening

Requirements:

- The cleansing in the energy of someone who's frequency exceeds 700 until the first barrier starts breaking apart

- The yin element of the earth. Let the ring absorb the pure yin for two days

- A drop of blood from its new master

Warning: The new master needs to resist the corrupting force of the artifact to control its power. ]

Azar's awareness returned and the two spheres of light disappeared into the distance. The road faded as well and the immense corridor regained its usual form.

It's not as complicated as I've expected, Azar thought after finding about the requirements for lifting the prohibition. The only curiosity he had now was the actual power of the ring. If it could really absorb any type of energy, then how could he use it the best. And how large was actually the storage space.

Azar could find the information in his current place, but that would require the consumption of more soul power, and he wasn't going to spend the little he had remaining.
