Herah War Hej was many things: master artist, zealot teen, and unfortunate participant. One thing she was not, was human. Born in a universe where humanity never appeared, the artist is a Cendreux; one of many dragon-like, humanoid conquerors who've turned their backs on their god. She hopes to reverse this course and make weapons for her race's planet conquering needs. Before she can do that, however, Herah must first take part in a deadly game known as Recompense. Chosen as one of two representative of her universe by her Maker, Norwe, because of her mysterious power known as a Gift, the artist must complete a series of “acts”, each having its own simple but heinous task to accomplish. If won, she shall be granted a single wish of almost anything she desires. If lost, the few things she loves will be destroyed. With this threat hanging over her head, Herah has to grapple with not just entertaining her Maker, but working with the hostile human leading her team and pushing through both sins from the past and the ones she’s committing in the present. Herah is in for the battle of her life. But she is a master artist, and Battle is an Art.
