Synopsis
'Banshee' is the first entry in a four-part urban horror anthology book oriented around malignant cosmic deities, nightmarish cityscapes, mental delusions, enigmatic corporations, and ancient folklore. It will have interconnected lore, which will be bolstered by cryptic poems. The book's current working title is, rather uncreatively, 'The City Of The Dark', and it will follow four similar, but different characters as they navigate this city, and at once lose themselves, and rediscover who they really are. Context will be sparse and cryptic, doled out drip by drip as each entry is released. In 'Banshee', we follow an unnamed man as he journeys through the smog-ravaged city, fulfilling mysterious tasks for his omnipresent yet unknowable employers, guided by phone-calls, USB drives, and recorded videos. He must sense their stimuli, and intuit for himself the job that must be done. He keeps the dead body of his wife in the bath, rotting. He lives a lonesome, melancholy life. Nevertheless he is all too unwilling to respond to the deathly, screeching wails that creep up into his ears from the dark, hazy corners of the city and arise, billowing like the wind, from a forlorn and forgotten forest that lurks not far away. All the while, cryptic dreams haunt this man in the solitary darkness, as the baleful moon watches on. All constructive feedback is welcome and wanted.
