The world had changed. Why it had changed was unknown. The cause of the change was known. Though nowhere near understood. Humanity no longer held dominance over Earth like it once had. Losing everything, because to give more. It had to be taken away. Shome finds himself in a turbulent time of change. seeking answers to the mysteries all the while trying to survive horrifying monsters and morally questionable new entities that had been introduced to his world. There was a path to power that now lay within his grasp. Would he survive long enough to notice? Could a young man from the modern world find a path in this new brutal reality? So many questions. Perhaps there was more to him than meets the eye. 'Regaining consciousness so frequently was beginning to annoy me. Perhaps it was the uncontrollable loss of it that was the true annoyance.' (This story has aspects of every genre I have enjoyed for so long on Royal Road. A culmination of ideas and world-building that I'm hopeful will be entertaining to read for anyone out there. It will be a slower-paced progression, with character development, realistic relationships, slight kingdom building, post-apocalyptic, cultivation, and magical fantastical flavors all meshed into one.
