Synopsis
Far in the distant future, humans have changed and evolved into different species seeking to understand the greatest mystery they've ever known: where did they come from and how do we keep from going extinct? Or at least, for those in the human origins service, that was the greatest question ever asked. For Roi, a Libran-born human marred with the mismatched traits of a Hyrdran human, the answers only ever seem farther away more impossible to answer. Faced with adversity for the red and orange undertones of his skin, and the effects of his birth under a different sun from his parents, opportunities are few and far between for a hybrid like him. Even lay humans, protected genetic purities among the human species, have a better chance at advancing under their strict regulations! Then, aboard the Auctor--an explorative ship designed for space-based experimentation--there is a Code White. Roi and all the others hurry to the central viewing area and learn that a rogue planet, ideal for their research, has been discovered. This is the first chance in hundreds of thousands of years for a successful planetary development project. With the ignition of a synthetic star, The Genesis Project begins. But it isn't without problems. To understand their origins, Roi is tasked with overseeing the Human Life Development Study, examining the success of life and its evolution on the little planet called Hope. If it is a success, then perhaps the risk of human extinction will finally come to an end. With the fate of the entire human genome resting on Roi's shoulders, he must find a way to make this planet work and keep these First People alive against all odds.
