8 - Away from home

8 - Away from home

For the next month, Mormo didn't return home. His mother could feel his exact location, but she didn't come close.

Opal didn't want to make any more mistakes with Mormo. She already blamed herself for the current situation. All she wanted was to protect him, how could this even have happened?

In the following week Mormo returned to his home, he talked a little bit with his mother, and they reconcile. Mormo knows that his future was in Opal’s hands, and he couldn't let their situation get any worse.

Opal could feel that her child was still very angry with her. She was clueless and turned to her husband for suggestions.

He was a smart fellow, and he knew when to take a step back. He told her that maybe their previous action was too extreme for Mormo’s personality, and they should just leave him alone and let time heal the relationship between the mother and son.

Opal thanked Assaf and just did as he told her. Their relationship was very strong by now, Opal completely depended on Assaf.

She spent most of her time with her two other children and husband. It is not like she didn't want to be with Mormo, it was just that Mormo was inside the forest all day long, and eventually, Opal got used to that and just left him be.

Mormo, except for training, helped his little friend to keep his life. He named him 'Moshe' and they grow close for the past fourth years.

Mormo couldn't make himself stronger at all this time. All he tried to do brought him no result.

Tomorrow he was leaving for the best academy in this region. He was eager to go to study over there. Maybe he would find a way to extend his life span.

He told Moshe that the time to part grew near, and they hugged each other. Mormo went back to his home, while Moshe decided to leave this place and find shelter somewhere else. Mormo told him that if somewhen Mormo will get strong enough, he will find Moshe and grant him freedom.

Mormo went back to his home. When he entered, he saw his mother playing with his other two brothers.

She smiled at him and said, "welcome home".

"I'm back" he said, while he entered.

His mother wore a sorrowful expression. She knew that their relationship was as bad as it can be. She could tell everything about his mood, her connection to him wasn't just for show. She could tell she hurt him a lot in the past, and that he never considered anyone around her as his family, except her.

She didn't know what to do with him, she went to Mormo, lifted him, and then hugged him with a lot of care.

He smiled at her, but she could feel his distrust and disappointment. It's made her heart fills with tears.

"Tomorrow you are leaving us for your studying, I will miss you a lot. Could you please at least write me letters every week or so? I want to know as much as possible. If I could, I would go there with you, but your father is right. It's important to gain experience at your age". Mormo looked at her and nodded, but his heart was frozen.

The next day, Mormo left his house and went to the teleport formation with his mother. Before he entered the teleportation, his mother kissed him on the forehead. Mormo looked at her for a long minute before he kissed her back and then entered the teleportation.

Opal was heartbroken, she could feel how unwilling he was to kiss her, and how much hate he had for her. She fell to the ground, but no tears dropped from her eyes. She was lost. Her heart ached. Then determination filled her mind, she promised herself that no matter what, she will make their connection solid again. Not only solid, but it will also become much better than it was in the past. She walked home with a big smile on her face.

From afar Assaf looked at the situation and a little smile appeared on his face.
