At the end of his long battle with Freeza, Goku finds all his best work was in vain after the space tyrant rises almost unscathed after being dealt a Spirit Bomb to kill his friends. After the death of Gohan, Goku is sent into such a rage that he taps into the power all Saiyans are inherently born with: the Soul Room. In this dimension between life and death Goku meets the original Super Saiyan who promises Goku not only power to defeat Freeza but to restore his friends to life. However, this power comes at a cost. The Super Saiyan transformation is triggered by the accumulation of all souls in the universe killed unjustly fusing with that of their desired called the Trampled Innocence. While the power the Trampled Innocence gives Goku is beyond measure and makes him one of the greatest warriors the galaxy has ever seen, the rage of these accumulated souls drives him into a rage that even he cannot control. Fueled by these innocents’ rage, his rampage frightens even King Kai who watches from afar—and a secret is uncovered that causes everyone to question the fabric of their reality.
