This is not a star wars fan fic. This is a sci-fi story set in a future where "Mandalorian" became a recognized people group descended from Terrans. Do they have a warrior culture and the distinctive armor? Yes. Are they essentially territorial farmers with an overzealous attachment to high-powered weaponry? Also yes.  Disclaimers aside: the plot: Lucy grew up in the care of a group of government-backed fixers. When the team was forced to retire, she decided to settle down and try making friends. Enter Eric. Eric is a decent mechanic's apprentice, wishing for a beautiful girl to be friends with. He makes a wish upon a shooting star, and finds himself drawn into an interstellar adventure he could never have seen coming. At least he finally gets to try out all the gadgets his armor comes with. And the girl is certainly beautiful. A few other choice words as well, but Eric figures he'll focus on things he can actually control. She certainly won't be one of them.
