Synopsis
In Arathyll, a world within a world, awe and wonder freely roam. Above the Four Great Continents, floating islands dot the sky as they surf through a sea of aurora borealis. At its center shines the Allstar, a progenitor to the mystical force, Ethria. Kingdoms, commonfolk, and even the divine constantly vie for deft mastery over this asomatous embodiment of the extraordinary. Such mastery invokes Majik, the power which bends reality and creates destiny.
Tyralt Myruvia, a cunning boy blessed with misfortune, seeks to gain his father's approval by applying to a prestigious majik academy. Unfortunately, he greatly lacks resonance with ethria and can barely perform any basic invocations. To try and compensate for his inadequacies, he “learns” swordplay as the daily training dummy for the corrupt knight’s guard. Beaten and battered, he then tirelessly studies majik theorycraft until exhaustion takes over. Despite his efforts, his prodigy brother, Tomek, mocks his attempts and labels him an embarrassment to their name. Following the academy’s entrance exam, Tyralt’s worldview shatters and for the first time sees how he has wasted his life pleasing those who care nothing for him. In their eyes, he is just the failed byproduct of his father’s alchemic depravities.
From the ashes, using his quick wit, grit, and gut instincts, he schemes a way to blaze a path which rivals the tales and legends he has read and dreamt about–one forged by his own tenacity. However, freedom never tends to lend itself as convenient or eagerly available, especially in Tyralt’s case. Swindling a “demon” of the criminal underworld into a majik contract, of course, comes with its own repercussions…
