The wind breezed through my skin delightfully.
I was walking down the street to the shop to prepare for my dinner tonight.
It is instant ramen. Might as well take a protein bar and a bottle of mineral water.
The shop is empty, except for the female cashier, lazily playing her phone.
She said hello and proceed to ignore me as usual. I took the cup ramen on the first shelf.
Suddenly, something sparks interest in my eyes.
It is a new volume of a popular manga. By the looks of it, they have just arrived at the store two days ago. This is the only one left.
I checked my wallet to see if I have enough money to buy a new manga.
15 bucks. This is enough I guess. I thought to myself. The price of the manga, as displayed on its shelf, is only 6 bucks. The ramen is 2 bucks each, and I bought two of them. Two mineral water by Dasani costs a buck. 11 bucks. Nice. I could live on like this.
I bought all of them and is left with 4 dollars left. Yes, I was mentioning it as bucks earlier, but dollar sounds better and formal. I send the cashier my goodbye by waving at her, not noticing that the door is in front of me. Naturally, I'd bump into it, but not today for some reason. I looked at her, and she smiled.
I walked back to my house, or more precisely, a house that my parents left for me after they gave up on raising me, and left for the countryside. They still loved me, or at least, that is what my mother could say every time we called each other. That is every weekend.
This house isn't exactly a rundown, but one wouldn't argue that it is a pretty old one.
If there is one advantage that I could think of, living inside here, I don't have to pay for the bills. Which is pretty lucky, if you could have asked me. My parents send me 300 dollars from their savings every month. Securing a house in the countryside is the one feeling you need after getting closer to your death.
I did not know that I, will be leaving the world first.
Now, I am just across the stairs to the lane my house is at. It is just the second house from the stairs.
I looked to my left and right, hoping any cars or truck will not come by and smash me. Lucky me, I am obedient to the traffic safety code.
After securing the perimeter, I walked down the street and rides up the stairs.
I forgot that it just rained, so the stair is slippier than the public bathroom at 4 p.m.
I slipped obviously, as I reached the last few steps of the stairs. One by one, I fell. 20 flights. That is a lot.
I ended up on the streets again, and to my disappointment, I will die in the next four seconds.
Truck-Kun is here.
The last thing I recapped before my body dismembered and got squashed into pieces was the face of the cashier smiling at me. She is not so beautiful, but you could tell that she is sincere whenever she smiles.

The face of my parents. What will they think of me, knowing that I fell down the stairs and proceeds to get hit by a truck?
It scares me and makes me delighted at the same time. At the very least, I have some people that knew me or even talked to me.
I regained consciousness to a pitch-black place. Paralyzed, I am kneeling.
Why am I not dead yet?
Oh yeah, normally when a truck hits you, you will be reincarnated to another world.
My death is not painless, especially since a truck moving at a speed of 80 kilometres per hour hits you five seconds after you fell 20-flight stairs.
Right now, I might be getting sentenced by the angel of death himself.
"Hello there, deceased."
A very angelic, yet dark voice called upon me. I know that person mentioned me since I am the only person here.
"Yes, I am deceased. Who and where are you?"
"Are you clearly blind, my deceased child? I am right in front of you!"
"If you could set up the light, I wouldn't have doubted that you..."
"The Angel Of Death herself. And you would not want to request the almighty me to open up the light, since you can't die here."
"I perfectly understand that, Ye Highness. I never knew that you are a woman."
"Without further ado, let's begin this trial of yours since I got a hundred other mortals to deal with, okay?"
I nodded to her despite the fact that I never wanted to.
"O Deceased one, ye shall be judged by me, the Angel of Death as your case is quite a deal.
O Deceased one, you live quite a woeful, useless life.
You have sinned too much, yet done many good deeds. I-"
"What kind of nonsense is a good deed? I have no idea who I helped!" I interrupted since I do not know what nonsense she is speaking.
"I shall answer your question shortly after this speech ended. Let me continue. Now, where was I?" It sounds like she is flipping pages. "Oh, there you are.
I will bestow thou two choices. Whether you like it or not, you are forced to choose either one."
"Alright, I will gladly hear it."
"Very well.
Choice one. You will wander off to the gates of heaven, where you will meet the Almighty and his Loyal Servants. If you passed his unrivalled judgement, you will go straight to heaven. If you failed though, you will go to hell and burn there until He decided that you are free to go."
Yeah, I would not want that. I have sinned too much.
"Choice 2. You will be reincarnated to a life where you will be able to attain your original form and past life memories. But beware, as there, lies the great doom of monsters and hellspawn."
The word hellspawn and monsters both terrifies and excites me at the same time. I wondered why did they come down there though.
"Miss Death, can I ask you a question?" I spilt out.
"Calling me by the title Miss does not sound befitting, but yes, you may ask me."
"How did monsters come down there?"
"You see, once upon a time, back before God created me from light, He also has created those impulsive, protruding creatures.
Your universe is not the only realm that has lifeforms. God have created multiple realms, and within, countless life to pray and bless him. Unfortunately, he created some life without any minds, resulting in the creation of monsters. At least, that is what Lucifer told me before he became the father of all hellspawn.
Now thee must decide, between a walk to Heaven and Hell, or for another life."
I then hear the sound of heels coming closer to me.
"But considering your hobby and by my personal recommendation, I would choose the second one. Heaven, way up there is nothing. You literally bask in the Sun and eat grapes every day, forever. Plus, the realm He created have some people like you reincarnated there, so you could find some friends."
"Just because I am a NEET doesn't mean that you could treat me like I would have wanted to. But yeah, I would hate to become tanned and fat."
"So, the second choice?"
"Yes, Miss Death."
"Just because I am free of sins does not mean that you could address me by such title. Let me continue that last part."
She changed her tone again to a perfectly angelic and motherly one.
"Moi, Angel of Death, shalt bestow upon thou, O Deceased, to a world where what some modern hermit call, a perfect place."
I suddenly got lifted to the air, where two women in white robe lifted me. The Angel of Death herself then seems to glimmer. I caught a glimpse of a smile from her, which almost looks like what would someone's mother look like after you won a soccer tournament.
Except this one is perfect, free of wrinkles and anger, pure indeed.
"Now, you shall go."
Time to start a new life as anything I may have or not have wanted.
