In a chimeric post-war America, a shadowy research institute stands tall atop an earthen plateau untouched by outside conflict. The institute has existed as long as people can remember, dating back thousands of years before written history. Adaptations of stories told orally by early humans depict a mysteriously shaped relic of unknown origin, and the undoubtable human urge to understand it. In modern times, those who vanish into the multi-state sized organization are never seen again. Little information comes out of the high plateau, but what does seep out alludes to the horrors of human testing, grotesque mechanical automata, neon-lit towers, a false night sky, and a legion of highly agile human freerunners that seek answers. Rumors stir among the uninformed who paint a picture of which none know is certain, nor can they prove. Tael is a young man living in post-war America who seeks to better his and his older brother Tai's quality of life. He studies at a small college in the hopes that a degree can get him hired in a different country to escape the war-torn landscape with his older brother. One day Tai disappears into the institute without warning, causing Tael to dive headfirst after him into the labyrinthian facilities below the surface.
