Synopsis
Thousands of years in the future, the world has irreversibly changed. The ozone layer had long been destroyed at the hands of humankind, languages had melted into one, and the thought of a capitalist society where money holds all power is nothing but history now. The world is no better than it was, with the release of a drug called STMCLL being introduced into the populous; a cure-all drug that promised to eradicate diseases and Death itself. Unbeknowst to the public, this highly addictive cure-all created a new species born of perfected stem cells -- a parasite-esque creature named the NuBorne, immune to disease and with heightened capabilities, often lacking empathy or care for "normal" humans. One man, Gene, is determined to rehabilitate NuBorne he meets in an attempt to prove they're still human -- and to hunt down the NuBorne that continue to use STMCLL, the grotesquely mutated creatures known as Siderians.
A gruesome story weaving the elements of body, ecological, and psychological horror with themes of cyberpunk and sci-fi, An Extant Form of Life explores what it means to be human, and the complexity of life.
