Arx: "Maybe because... I was the one who wrote and gave you that book?"
Amyr: "Wait, really?"
She almost reached a mental breakdown, her mind processing Arx's words slowly.
Amyr: "Alright, I'll get changed."
After Amyr changed, they went to the training grounds (backyard).
Arx: "Show me what you have learned so far."
Amyr: "Alright."
She executed a few forms of the swordsmanship she'd learned.
Arx: "Not bad. I wasn't expecting this much since it's only been a few years since you started learning."
Amyr: "Hmph! Don't even try underestimating me. I'm the princess of this empire, you know!"
Arx: "Alright then, be prepared. For the next two days, you're going to experience the real deal."
Arx said with a smirk on his face. Upon hearing this, Amyr started sweating as she muttered to herself,
Amyr: "Ah yes, I totally forgot... He's this empire's demon."
After two days of hellish training, Amyr finally learned the rest of the sword technique on the same day Arx was finally going to Yribdeinos.
Arx: "Amyr, it's finally time. I'm leaving for Yribdeinos. You should return to the castle. There might be some urgent matters."
Amyr: "Yeah, I was about to. I just wanted to find you and express my gratitude. Hold on, isn't Yribdeinos located at Siegril?"
An awkward silence ensued...
Arx: "We should depart together until Yribdeinos."
Amyr: "Right..."
As they walked through the residence's exit, Amyr interrupted,
Amyr: "Before we depart, I would like to thank you for everything you've taught me. You even gave me a new book to learn new techniques. The library of your household sure is handy."
Arx: "No problem."
A day later, Arx arrived at Siegril, where both he and Amyr would part ways.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Amyr: "See you again!"
Arx waved back at her as he faced the entrance of Yribdeinos, admiring its beauty.
Arx: "So this is the well-known Yribdeinos. Here, I can face swordsmen from every corner of Agryz."
???: "Hey!"
A voice called out to him.
???: "You look unfamiliar. Are you perhaps new here?"
Arx: "Who are you?"
???: "The name's Schemn, Schemn Vylrianaz, the right-hand man of the First Blade of Yribdeinos, Ms. Siesta Vonenwal. And who might you be?"
Arx: "You'll know once you take me to her."
Schemn looked at him with confusion.
Arx: "Siesta."
Schemn quickly drew his sword, pointing it at Arx.
Schemn: "Watch your mouth. Who are you to say her name so casually, and why should I take you to her to begin with?"
Arx pointed the tip of his sword away.
Arx: "You see, we've known each other since childhood. It's reasonable for me to check on her, am I wrong?"
Schemn: "And if I don't?"
Arx then placed his hand on the sword, ready to unsheathe it.
Arx: "Then, I'd have to use force."
Schemn: "Very well. However, if she doesn't recognize you, you're as good as dead."
Arx: "Do whatever you want."
The both of them entered the academy together. Schemn then gave Arx a tour around the campus. Left and right, students battled against each other, making it look like a camp of knights.
Arx: "Is Yribdeinos usually this lively?"
Schemn: "Kind of. It's a little livelier than usual because of the upcoming 'Blade Selection.' There are a lot of benefits to becoming a 'Blade' aside from being a model student. You'll receive advanced knowledge, even more advanced than what you normally learn from instructors. Not to mention a magic-infused dummy; it can self-regenerate no matter how much damage you inflict on it, allowing you to train to your heart's content. That's why they're training so hard, since this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Arx: "Are you not going to participate?"
Schemn: "No, I don't wish to be the center of attention."
Arx: "(How cocky...)"
A few moments later, they arrived at the student council's office.
Schemn: "We're here."
Schemn knocked twice before entering.
Siesta: "Oh, Schemn, could you help me with these paperwork? Hm? It seems you've brought a guest."
Schemn: "He said that you know each other. Is it tr-"
Siesta: "I do not know him."
Schemn: "Understood... then..."
Schemn quickly drew his sword, aiming for Arx's neck. However,
Schemn: "Hm..? Why is it hard-"
Arx: "Siesta.. really?"
Schemn: "(He blocked my attack?!)"
Arx then deflected Schemn's attack, launching him a few meters back.
Arx: "This won't do..."
Schemn: "You! Don't even-"
A pressuring aura interrupted Schemn, nearly suffocating him.
Arx: "I'm not talking to you."
Schemn: "Agh-!"
As Schemn gasped for air, Siesta rushed happily, welcoming Arx with a warm embrace.
Siesta: "I knew you would come here, but I didn't expect it to be this soon. You should've informed me so that I could prepare for your visit."
The immobilized Schemn in front of them quickly asked,
Schemn: "Ms. Siesta, who is he..?"
Siesta: "Right, he's the eldest son of one of the noble families, the Azarkeys, Arx Von Azarkey."
Schemn: "(The Azarkeys?! Isn't that the strongest family in the empire?)"
Siesta: "Oh, I forgot to mention, he's also my fiancé."
Schemn: "What?"
These words echoed through his thoughts as his hopes of asking Siesta out shattered.
Schemn: "Oh.. I-is that so..?"
Arx: "Nice to meet you, Schemn. Let's get along.
"Schemn: "Y-yeah, let's get along..."
Moments later, Siesta accompanied Arx to take 'The Trials.' The Trials were a series of rigorous tests, akin to trial exams, designed to assess a candidate's readiness and qualifications for admission to Yribdeinos. They included assessments of academic knowledge, practical skills, and personal attributes, all essential for success in the academy's demanding environment. Each trial presented unique challenges, from written examinations to practical demonstrations, aimed at evaluating a candidate's aptitude and potential. Only those who successfully completed The Trials would be granted entry to Yribdeinos, the renowned academy of excellence and opportunity.
Some time later...
Siesta: "That was fast. Anyways, Aleria was assigned a task by the school head in the countryside, so she's out of town. I'm sure she'll be surprised when she hears that you've enrolled here."
Arx: "I do hope so. It's a shame she's missing out on The Trials, though."
After the results came in, the instructors including the school head was lost for words as hundreds of hundreds of student come yearly, monthly, or even weekly to Yribdeinos, yet none of them excelled this much on the trials until, the Azarkey's eldest stepped in.
School head: "First is your daughter, now your son? Hah! Fine, Arydliz, let's see what your children has to offer."
Meanwhile on the castle...
Athurlex, the king of Agryz, together with his wife and Amyr's mother, Victyniria, welcomed their daughter.
Athurlex: "Hm.. you're back, my daughter."
Amyr: "It was a long day, father. I have successfully attained the sword technique that I was trying to learn."
Victyniria: "Really? That's wonderful, Amyr. With that in mind, you should prepare for tomorrow's ceremony."
Amyr: "Yes, mother."
