Patryk was a skiver, a layabout, a rat living in a squat on the massive space station. After a party he slept somewhere risky, the journey to his temporary home too long. Then Patryk was woken by an open, charitable man named One. A man who gave Patryk a smoke unlike those he saw in the movies. Now Patryk is Allison, the only of her kind on this deep-space welcoming station. And he, or she, is flouting laws in becoming a woman — by imitating. Patryk is Allison. She knows it, fully. And One wants her to take on a job. He wants her to be who she is; to be Allison Zero. Allison Zero is both ‘trans fiction’ and sci-fi. It is trans fiction and sci-fi because it follows someone, in the far future, who transitions from male to female, and it is their transition, and what brings them to it, that allows them to peel away the layers of control in an advanced human civilisation on the edge of the solar system. The first part of the first volume is heavier on Allison’s transition, as it slowly begins to reveal some of the workings of the station. You should expect a story that is low key, in places, that walks the line between dystopia and utopia, on a space station laden with secrets. It is a story that focuses on people and friendships, and societies, and how we interact and behave when both everything and nothing seems possible in a post-scarcity galaxy. The first volume of Allison Zero is complete, taking the story to a significant point; the end of the beginnings arc. It is roughly 75,000 words, and ready to go bar a final pass that will happen according to the schedule. I intend to post these 75,000 words with no hiatus. The tentative release days I've landed on are Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The actual times of the day the chapter comes out might vary a little but the days will work for me, for now. There are 31 chapters in the completed beginnings arc, written now, so you can do the maths on a weekly read plan and when you want to hop in.
