All of the children whose parents failed to return from missions or failed attempts to join the company are to be raised by Mother/MU-TH-UR 6000, the artificial life form created by the “company” (Weyland-Yutani corp). A group of teenagers that MU-TH-UR  has reared are currently under her care. A young girl from an abandoned ship shows up one day, and MU-TH-UR takes her to Downstairs—a location that she told her kids was forbidden.
