Legacies of the ancient Terran loop fortresses and solar dynasties litter the orbits of old home Sol. Powerful magic and advanced technology protect the entrenched powers, supported by a credit system designed to exploit the least able to afford it. The entire imbalanced edifice is held up by treaties and ancient pacts. One such pact fell into the lap of Alaya.  Orphaned at a young age and left to drift through the solar system of the 3rd millennium, Alaya is bound to the Red Charter. The dumping account for all of the bad credit deals over the last thousand years, the Red Charter keeps Alaya and her companion, Gaz from earning any meaningful cash and even from paying for food without paying five times the price.  Despite the burden, Alaya hunts the pirates who killed her family while Gaz carries a dark secret she hopes Alaya never discovers.
