Synopsis
As a snowstorm hangs over modern-day New York, James Lawrence, a bike messenger at his adoptive father’s delivery company, awakens to a day that he believes is like any other. Fresh in his mind are the vivid dreams that haunt each night. Darkness and cold, followed by a ball of light that radiates a calming warmth, and a female voice that repeats the same phrase over again. Despite it feeling familiar, James cannot begin to fathom its meaning. Besides, it is just a dream, right?
Maybe not, perhaps the answers that he seeks are not as far as he believes. As James begins to slowly unravel a secret that has been kept by his closest friends and family for almost thirty years, he falls into a world redefined. The existence of different planes, new races confused for supernatural beings, and a secret war that has been fought under the nose of most of humanity for centuries. All of which, he is now at the centre of, and little does he know, the path forward will hinge on him bringing together those around him.
As James gradually comes to learn the role he is to play, he rediscovers himself. He is not joining an ongoing battle. Instead, he is just picking up where he left off. With those around him looking for leadership, he must rise once more as a force against the growing darkness. He must make sure that humanity never has to hear the words that he once did, the ones repeated to him each night – ‘Akertia. Akertia has fallen'.
