Akihito is a budding exorcist who recently moved to America, going to a secret university for exorcists, people who banish spirits so that they can't do harm to people after their death. However, while most other exorcists in the world see spirits as creatures that cannot coexist with society, he sees them as souls who could live on past their first death, and avoids performing exorcisms when possible. Which leads him to making friends with a recently deceased ghost, and making her a partner in his work as he studies the spirit arts in hopes of finding a way to make coexistence between the dead and living possible.
