James Crawford is nearing the end of his 'gaming cycle', after playing the hit AVR (Augmented Virtual Reality) game "AdvenTravelers Online'', a game that requires the player to respec their character every 20 levels in order to surpass their level limit in game. This widely controversial concept was what made the game appear on James' radar just after its initial release, allowing him to fulfill his enjoyment of 'noncommittal gaming' as it allowed him to play a variety of different play styles, all the while rewarding him for doing so. In the end, it took him 8.5 years to finally remove the max level limit. Now, nearly six months into his 'True Run' of the game, he grows bored, giving less and less time to the game that has taken 8 and a half years from his life. Hearing the game was ending live service due to "poor performing player analytics", James decides to take his latest respec'ed character, "Gabriel", for one last tour before the end.
