Philip Gere is on his gap year, though unlike his fellow students, his is on a tight budget. Travelling through most of Europe on scraps, he relies on his gut feelings and trusting strangers on where to go and what to see. After a long, uncomfortable car journey through Eastern European countryside thanks to an old man who he couldn't understand, Philip lands outside the doors of the Hotel Otwór late into the evening. He didn't have much of a choice, and soon he would learn he didn't have much of a chance either.
