Delphine's childhood was consumed wholly by her most favorite book of legends and tales, tales of the world Hythalla. But what Delphine did not expect was that her dreams of Hythalla would soon turn into nightmares, haunted memories that would follow her around for the rest of her life. Ten years have passed since that disastrous day, and Delphine has changed with them. Her life at the compound is brutal and lonely, consumed with blood and fear. Unable to escape, her life was laid out before her, destined to spend the remainder of her days locked away.  But when Delphine's life is again turned upside down, she must once more question her reality. Finding herself in the land she used to dream of, Delphine's must make a choice. Does she allow herself to lower her walls, to create bonds stronger than any she has had in her life, or does she keep her mask secured, her heart boarded up as it has been since her family died that fateful night all those years ago.
