Chapter 4?

Mana Heimm.

The world of Mana Heimm consisted of two separate continents. One is a smaller continent to the east and separated by the Sea of Adlas. The other much more massive continent was simply referred to as the mainland by everyone living there. Heavy snow all year round blanketed high mountain range to the far north and south ends of the mainland. No one knew whatever lies beyond the extreme cold wall.

Castle of the Fallen.

Inside the war room, every single seat was occupied but one to the far west. Every single one of them was lord of a castle from all around the continent, ruler of their own kingdom inside the mainland. A stern look was worn by most of them while the rest doesn't reveal any emotion whatsoever. Meetings involving every ruler of the mainland was an infrequent occasion ever since the establishment of Mainland's Council.

Two elves, two dwarves, three beast – kin and six humans made up the entirety of the Mainland's Council. Every serious that happen across the entire mainland would usually have their attention. To cases like a great famine in the west occurring and was seeking help from other kingdoms to relief them in the west. Or even an emergency like a great necromancer has emerged and brought an undead horde to destroy everything, every event of significant importance won't be missed by them and be dealt with appropriately.

It wasn't as if that war between council member never occurred, in fact, they wage war one after another. The lands of Mana Heimm rarely ever seen a moment of peace, if not a war between the council member, it was with the orcs or lizardmen. Whenever there was a war between council member, the others would usually try to come to the aid of the innocent civilians caught between wars, providing food for the farmers who got their crops and livestock seized by the army and shelters for those who lost their homes in the war.

Knock knock knock

The door was pushed open, and frigid winds blew inside the room. A man of colossal frame walked in. His greaves covered foot sinks the wooden floor a bit, a testament to his weight. The far southwest was his keep, near the gigantic natural walls of ice where snow never cease from covering the ground and everything beneath the sky. Having massive frame and plenty of hair was a trait unique to that forsaken piece of land.

His clawed pure white gauntlets reached his chair, with ease he lifted the chair and pulled it back making little to no noise. Sitting on it, however, caused a creaking sound as if the chair couldn't bear the weight of this man which resembles a bear. Placing both his arms atop the exotic looking ebony table, he greets everyone with a big grin.

"Pardon my tardiness, had a skirmish with those lizards. There are looking a lot more well equipped these days. Lost a few of my man but I didn't make you lot wait too long right?"

"We expected to sleep here for a night Karavan. Lucky the sun haven't fall down yet. Can we start now Lord of the Fallen?" a chirpy blonde replied.

A man with a pair of sunken eye and a grim look on his face lets out a raspy voice.

"Appreciate the joy, Brandt. Now I don't wish to waste more time and forgive me for my lack of hospitality Karavan, but I wish to cut straight to the point. Avatars as they calls themselves or rather demons that our subjects call them, they are proving to be more chaotic if I might say. Breaking into homes, outright stealing right before the people's eye and indiscriminately killing people. The list goes on. I think we need a countermeasure against them. Any ideas?"

A man looking more like a beast raised its hand, revealing a paw and sharp claws. Receiving a nod from the Lord of Fallen, he opened his mouth. "At first, I don't think it was of any significance. But as of late, troubles befall my kingdom and the people inside. Killing them seems to be useless as they would always comes back alive the next day, with vengeance and anger filled to the brim. Would imprisoning them be effective?"

"Prison? Normal prison won't work. Aye tried it once, or maybe twice. Either their fellow demon came with a legion, kills the guard and turn the whole prison into rubble or they would simply vanish into thin air. Even the past demon lord ain't this tricky." A dwarf with a head full of red hair and beard retorted.

"How about we simply block their entry into any of our town. We can always kill them if they refuse, besides aren't they weak? I've simply never seen such a monster, totally fearless, almost manic in a fight. It's like they're even worse than a demon spawn. I've even heard of rumours that a demon lord is coming soon from them. We've had our hands full dealing with their problem, if a demon lord shows up I'm afraid we won't be able to react in time." A human male chided in.

"They're simply to many to kill off. Even then, they might all join hand and attack our town one by one. They can go on without sleep and eat, they don't even have fear. A fight with those monster is really the last thing we need. How about we use them to clear off the orcs and lizards. Those two have plagued us for so long without rest, it'll be a show to watch them fight helplessly against the demons." The blonde man, Brande proposed.

"That idea of yours might as well work, Brande. But why should we stop there? We could always use their help in doing all sort of things. Gather firewood, find missing cat, catch the cabbage thief, kill xx amount of monster and slay a dragon. Wouldn't they be the perfect adventurer? No fear, no hunger and no sleep. They aren't even afraid to die." Karavan took the idea on a whole nother level.

"If they were all to be adventurers, what would happen to out adventurer? Wouldn't they scream at us that the demon came and stole all their job? How would they feed their wife and child? Though the idea is great, what of the aftermath. Let's not stop here, we gonna discuss this till supper." The lord of the Fallen said.
